April 2022

April 1, 2022 By webmaster

This world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward
to a home yet to come. ~Hebrews 13:14~

How on Earth?

I find myself using this phrase a lot more often than normal. One could say because of all the crazy things that are going on, a person does not even know what else to say but, “How on Earth?” I catch myself saying it when I think about how my oldest is getting confirmed this weekend and going to high school next year- “How on Earth?” We can catch ourselves saying it when we see something absurd happen or see an incredibly amazing part of God’s creation and think/say “How on Earth?”
But it’s an “ironic” question really; because as you ask it, you’re answering yourself at the same time—How on Earth? —Because it’s on Earth! It’s NOT heaven. Here on Earth is where crazy things will happen. Here on Earth, we grow old . Here on Earth, we see amazing things and can’t comprehend them—because we are human and will not know the answers until we get to our next home.
On this Earth Day, celebrate the fact that God created this wonderful world for us; but celebrate in the fact that this is not all! This Earth is temporal-thank goodness! Enjoy all the beautiful moments you are given, but when things are not comprehendible and make you ask, “How on Earth?”; remember the answer—because it’s Earth and… Heaven is our Home!

GROUNDCOVER

Guess what? Mulch is on sale at Menards this weekend! I get pretty excited about that! I have started a perennial garden and I NEED mulch to help keep the weeds back. Lately though, I wake each morning seeing this icky white ground cover—in APRIL! I don’t like it anymore!

It’s Palm Sunday this weekend, and I’d much rather be thinking and talking about mulch than snow! 😊
Groundcover–whether mulch, laying out a red carpet, laying down a firm foundation, a carpet runner, or strewing palm branches out…they all have something in common! They all rid  the path of something less desired (weeds, dirt/stones, cold & hard surfaces) and permit a warmer, safer, stronger path for something/someone that deserves our time, utmost respect, and praises!

Jesus rode in humbly on a colt and the people waved palm branches and strew them out on the ground for Him to ride in on! Just as these “groundcovers” cover up a mess, Jesus does this for us. He makes clear the path to our Lord and Savior. He is our Path -our groundcover–and we can be thankful for that!

God’s Blessings on your Holy Week!

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools
despise wisdom and instruction. ~ Proverbs 1:7 ~

There are so many voices and opinions fighting for our attention. As adults, who have been traveling a road for a while already, the wolf may not be able to pull one over on us. But imagine, a child…your child. Your child is trying to find their way in this world—and they are trusting our voices! What are we telling them? Parents have the right to decide when and what their children are being taught!

I don’t want to throw Disney under the bus, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion; this is just something I read that doesn’t sit well with me … “Disney’s desire to embrace an agenda that deliberately and blatantly rejects a Christian worldview of the family…”

Things are being deliberately “placed” in your child’s mind through many different avenues. YOU need to decide what you want your child to be taught. Wisdom is the weapon we were given from God to decipher right from wrong and how He wants us to live! This DOESN’T change His word so that we are more comfortable with it.

If we aren’t letting  our children hear our voice, they will only hear the voices of everyone else!

On this April Fool’s Day, remember all that glitters is not gold!
