April 2020 Announcements

April 4, 2020 By webmaster

Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. ~ Colossians 2:7
ROOTED IN CHRIST

Earth Day, Arbor Day, planting season…

rooted

they all remind us of times of growth and looking forward to tomorrow. When we plant a new seed or take care of the land we have, we have invested in tomorrow. We have hope and faith! As roots of a tree provide nourishment, stability and strength, we too are to be rooted in Christ and His love. We have that opportunity here, at ILS, to encourage the next generation to make themselves students of God’s Word! Grow in His Love! As we all continue to walk through this time ‘together’, may we find peace and hope in His Word and keep our children “grounded” in the faith in this life for the next!

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ~ “Rejoice in the Lord Always”
PERFECT REMINDERS
As I was beginning to write this entry, I wondered, “What is everyone wanting to read about?” What message is everyone wanting to hear? Do I talk again about the unusual times and struggles we are going through, or talk about the hope and joy we can look forward to? Or maybe a funny story is needed? I opened up my file and noticed it was the first newsletter from September, and the message revolved around our theme for this year-
1 Thess. 5:16-18 –Rejoice in the Lord Always!
That’s the perfect topic! This year’s theme was very fitting I would have to say! I’m not sure anyone could have predicted this is how our year would go, but I’m positive EVERY ONE OF US could find something to rejoice about in all of it! What a wonderful reminder!

Easter-2019

REJOICE IN THE LORD ALWAYS!

REGISTRATION

APRIL 14, 2020

Thank you for working so hard with us to keep your child’s education continuing from a distance. Different times for sure and it takes all of us working together!
An email was sent out on Easter Sunday, April 12, with registration forms, or many of you picked them up at the homework exchange on Monday, April 13.
Once you have registered, if you would so choose, there is a clipart attached to your email that you can copy and paste and share on Facebook! Maybe they want to be part of something great too?
Have a wonderful day!

 Greetings parents and students –

The time has come again for a K-8 Work Exchange with the teachers and for our Preschool students to pick up some more fun learning activities from Ms. Stacia.  I hope that things are going well for you and your students, and if you have a struggle or question – please be reaching out to the teacher for guidance.  Easter BreakThe plan is to be available on Monday from  4:30 – 5:30 for drive thru  exchange again.  IF you are in need of a different time, please email back and we will make that happen.  This is a great time for you to turn in your lunch and tuition payments as well.

Nine Schools from the Northwest District collaborated to put together a Holy Week chapel for their students.   Staff from the following nine schools were involved in this (and one school even found a way to include students):

  • Anchor Lutheran School, Anchorage, AK
  • Bethlehem Lutheran School, Kennewick, WA
  • Concordia Christian Academy, Tacoma, WA
  • Concordia Lutheran School, Seattle, WA
  • Forest Hills Lutheran Christian School, Cornelius, OR
  • Hope Lutheran School, Seattle, WA
  • Peace Lutheran School, Bremerton, WA
  • Pilgrim Lutheran Christian School, Beaverton, OR
  • Trinity Lutheran School, Bend, OR

Here’s the video link:

For students that were involved we wanted to let you know that both Spelling Bees for this spring have been cancelled.Staff will be making plans for the best ways to celebrate our graduates and all of our Immanuel families after this pandemic is over!  Thank you all for your commitment to Lutheran Education and helping your child through this crazy 4th quarter.

Blessings on your Holy Week observation and Easter Celebrations.

INVESTMENTS

Do you watch the stock markets much? I have a hunch it’s really not the best time to invest in much of anything…. maybe we should have in TP or maybe we still have a slight chance on some other sought-after item??
I also have a hunch, though, that the best investment all of you have already made is in a Christian education for your child at ILS! I’m convinced that few things provide more hope in this country and world right now than teaching our children about Jesus! Yes, we can teach this at home; BUT the school is designed to partner with you as parents to teach God’s perspective in every subject and matter in life-whether it be morals or math- God’s love can be applied.
It doesn’t mean that they will be perfect people or that the school is a perfect paradise; but by choosing this education, you have committed to praying for it, supporting it, and fighting for it! That is an ETERNAL investment! And in times like these, even when we are not physically together in the building, the children have been taught a routine of prayer and devotion in the morning, giving to God in different ways through their talents, missions or academic grades, and closing their day with Jesus. That routine carries through and hopefully even serves as reminders for us at home as we struggle with how to handle this new way of life.

INVEST EARLY, INVEST OFTEN!
