~ O taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is he who
takes refuge in Him. ~ Psalm 34:8
Ice Cream, Ice Cream, We All Scream for Ice Cream
Did you know we had an ice cream truck come to school on Thursday? Imagine the
music playing and the ice cream truck coming down the street, and all the kids
running to meet it-excited as can be! For ice cream! Who doesn’t get excited for
an ice cream cone, especially on a hot summer day? But really, it’s JUST ice cream!
Try imagining this one–a truck coming down the street playing “Jesus Loves Me,”
and the truck is handing out free passes to heaven! But wait, nobody is running
after it?!?!? Have we forgotten what a real treat is? God has paid the price for us,
and has handed us free passes to heaven if we believe in Him, but are we waiting
and ready to go with Him?
With summer approaching, remember (maybe while you’re eating an ice cream cone) to feed your soul too. The children won’t be “fed” every day as they are during the school year here. Devotions, Christian movies on a rainy day, church on Sunday and daily prayer with our Savior are ways we can keep close to Him. He’s offered us a pretty sweet treat— eat it up!

~ “For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.” ~ Jeramiah 31:25
The repetitive bending and unwinding of a spring cause something called elastic fatigue: that implies loss in elastic nature of the spring. So now the spring won’t be able to bear the same value of elastic potential energy as it used to.
Sprung
I think Spring has finally sprung! I know the nice weather sure puts a little bounce back into my steps! I was starting to feel a little “wore down” and not feeling the same energy.
At times, our faith can feel weak or fatigued as well. It gets attacked/tempted in many ways and it’s sometimes hard to muster up the strength to keep on going—“elastic fatigue” I guess they call it above. Seems fitting. I’ll admit more times than none, I feel like I’m rolling around in a bounce house full of kids and can’t get back up on my own two feet rather than an energetic baby in a Johnny Jump Up with strong coiled springs! There’s a perfect scientific answer for this when it comes to a real spring. Thankfully, there’s also a perfect answer when it comes to our faith! Jesus will satisfy every languishing soul! He will give us the strength to get through anything. Bring him your bent coils and worn-out feelings and rest assured that He will give you the bounce you need.

Highlighted
What a week! There was a lot of excitement! If you notice, the phrase “the highlight of the week…” was used a couple of times throughout the classroom news! The children saw a play performance with hundreds of other students at MLC; some students experienced Camp Omega, while others were given the opportunity to dissect dog-fish sharks! They all mentioned these things as “highlights”—something that stood out something they were sure going to mention! The definition of highlight: to pick out or emphasize.
Why wouldn’t we want to point out great things? We want you to know all about our fun times! We don’t tend to emphasize our shortcomings or put a colorful sunburst around them in the newsletter to grab anyone’s attention! But something good, something fun, that we want to share!
May we always “highlight” ILS and emphasize/glorify God and the wonderful things He has blessed us with here! Go out and shout the good news about us, share your blessings with others and give God the glory!REMINDER
The students will be doing achievement testing this next week!
Make sure they have a good night’s rest and a healthy breakfast!
