~Isaiah 30:21~
This week, the nurse administered hearing and vision screening for some of our students.
Signs of permanent hearing loss:
• Difficulty hearing with other background noise
• Ringing In your ears (tinnitus)• Muffled sounds
I know these symptoms firsthand, as I deal with a hearing disorder called Meniere’s Disease. I have a funny story about that when I was diagnosed if you want to hear it sometime.
Unfortunately, we ALL deal with a chronic disease that causes us not to be able to hear God
speaking to us. It’s called SIN. The noise of the world gets far too loud, screeching in very high
decibels at times, drowning out any sort of whisper we’re trying to hear from Him. God wants
to be in conversation with us. He longs to give us direction and talk with us as a friend.
Listen closely!

I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. Ezekial 36:26
October is National Popcorn Poppin’ Month. I’ll have to admit, I was a bit excited for an
excuse for popcorn whenever I want! We had a farmer come join us this afternoon and teach us how they plant and harvest popcorn seeds and gave us a sample of their
popcorn! Definitely a yummy treat!
A kernel of popcorn contains about 14 percent water, and when heated, the water turns to steam. Unlike other grains, the shell is not water permeable, making it possible for pressure to build until the hull ruptures.
It’s interesting how almost everything-even popcorn-can be related to a Bible passage. A popcorn seed, as hard as it is, can be transformed into a fluffy, popped kernel. In the passage above it says, God will transform our stony, stubborn hearts into a tender, responsive heart. Through His love and grace for us and with the waters of baptism, we become new! Nothing is impossible for God!
Remember that the next time you’re eating popcorn (and go ahead, eat as much as you want this month ☺)!
